Alethea Gaarden to Study in Ireland with Mercyhurst Cohort

Alethea Gaarden of Cambridge Springs, PA, is among 25 Mercyhurst University students and six faculty members spending Spring Term in Dungarvan, Ireland, from March 1 to May 12.

Gaarden, a sophomore majoring in English, will reside in a townhouse development at the Park Hotel and take classes at the Dungarvan Enterprise Centre in the heart of town. The cohort will take courses in Anglo-Irish Literature, Environmental Biology, Comparative Leadership and Irish Language and History. The latter will be taught by Irish Professor Dr. Seamus O'Douillin of the Waterford Institute of Technology.

In addition to taking classes and enjoying an Irish immersion experience in Dungarvan, the group will take trips to Dublin, Galway and the Aran Islands and spend a week in Madrid, Spain.
