Maryssa Sharer Helps Conduct Mercyhurst College's First Public Opinion Poll

2010 Oct 18

Mercyhurst College announces that sophomore History major Maryssa Sharer of Mt Jewett, PA, was among 28 students who conducted the inaugural poll of the new Mercyhurst Center for Applied Politics (MCAP), gathering data on key issues in the 2010 election from 634 registered voters in Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District.

The Mercyhurst College-Erie Times-News public opinion poll is the inaugural effort of the college's new, state-of-the-art polling center, which debuted on the Erie campus this fall. The results were announced earlier this month in the Erie newspaper and also featured in numerous print and online sites, including The New York Times. The entire report can be viewed at the MCAP website: http://polisci.mercyhurst.edu/mcap/.

MCAP is the only independent, nonpartisan research organization in northwest Pennsylvania that regularly conducts public opinion polls on issues of regional concern. To learn more, visit the MCAP website or call the polling center at 814-824-3859.
